    Summary: Visit Sweden has identified a large international group of travelers that are driven by their curiosity and interest for meal experiences. In order to attract this group we are now together with regional and other national partners managing a 4 year programme that aims to increase knowledge and interest in swedish food, drinks and meal culture in order for more people to travel here and experience it. We’re building sustainable products and destinations in the field by developing and sharing new knowledge. And we’re increasing food/meal tourism in Sweden through international communication.

Britt Marie Mattsson is an awardwinning journalist ; tv personality and author. Leif Mannerström is the legendary chef, TV-star and cookbook author now getting a ”Special Awards” in the Gourmand Awards for his achievements.

    Summary: Pelle Agorelius about this years finalists in the Gourmand Awards, in a talk with Britt-Marie Mattsson. The swedish cookbooks wonder is the fruit of many years of professional effort. Some of the best cookbook writers, food photographers, designers, drinks books and cookbooks publishers are from Sweden. The global competition is fierce, and more challenging every year. Therefore, it is most extraordinary that Sweden has more finalists than ever, to the Gourmand Awards. The Gourmand Awards have been compared to the “Oscars” for film.

    12:30 - 12:50: Peder Sundström, Höga Kusten (the high coast), cookbook and destination

    Summary: Peder Sundström, ”Höga Kusten, Vår del av Världen” (Magasin Höga Kusten Publishing), the book about the destination of taste. Meet Peder, who is the photographer, designer and communications strategist of the co-owned agency Devocy Communication. In his engagement for his homelands Peder Sundström started contributing to build the brand Höga Kusten. And together with creative friends he founded the award winning Magasin Höga Kusten.

    Summary: The publishing company Grenadine has over the years won the title "the worlds best publishing company for books with drinks" at the Gourmand Awards.

    Summary: Pelle Agorelius AB is an innovative entrepreneurial company based on Saxhytte Gård in Grythyttan, Sweden. There, the Agorelius family has developed enterprises, businesses and estates since 1648.     14:00 - 14:20: Per Jonas Partapuoli, EALLU

    Summary: EALLU (ICR - ARCTIC COUNCIL) EALLU is Sami, and means "herd", but is also the name of a book being presented. EALLU is the first book ever, presenting an overview of the food cultures of the indigenous peoples of the Arctis, says Edouard Cointreau, president and founder of the Gourmand Awards. This is a book about the fabulous abundance and diversity of food in the Arctic. While many think of the Arctic as a place of harsh climate and scarcity, in fact the Arctic hosts an extraordinary food culture, built on 10,000 years of knowledge, and intergenerational knowledge transfer. Per Jonas Partapuoli was born and raised in Laevas Sami Village, a reindeer herding district in Kiruna municipality, where his family works with reindeer husbandry. Since 2014, he is a board member of the International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry (ICR), established by the Norwegian Government in 2005 as a contribution to the unique international cooperation of circumpolar reindeer herding peoples.

    Summary: Jamila Haider, Stockholm Resilience Centre, co-author of book, “With Our Own Hands: A celebration of food and life in the Pamir Mountains of Afghanistan and Tajikistan,” which was featured by different media sources, including BBC. 1st winner, "Best in the World" all categories in the international Gourmand Awards two years ago. 

    15:00 - 15:20: Movie time, Wisdom of the Mountains

    Summary: The Pamiri people of Afghanistan and Tajikistan are among the most isolated communities in the world. They live according to centuries-old traditions. Slowly but surely Western influences enter this remote mountain region. In this documentary film we travel through the Pamir Mountains with Frederik van Oudenhoven. He is the co-author of ‘With our own hands’, a book about the traditional dishes and the food and farming culture of the Pamiri people. It is the first written source about their culture that is accessible in their own language. Frederik brings his book back to its source. He speaks with farmers about the struggles they are facing: can the Pamiri people stay true to their old traditions while adapting to a new world?

    11:30 - 11:50: Husmansbord, Sveriges Bästa Landskapsmat Awards (the best of swedish food products, by region)

    Summary: Husmansbord and Sverige Bästa Landskapsmat collaborate with Stockholmsmässan, and now 4th time returning to GastroNord. The 26 products and producers recieving diplomas has been chosen by enthusiasts and experts within food products, restaurant, marketing, media, design and brand development. Choices are based on applies added value analysis made the past two years, in the ”quest for the best regional foods in Sweden”.

    12:00 - 12:20: Jessica Frej, food creator, cookbook writer, food blogger and TV chef

    Summary: Jessica Frej is a food creator, cookbook writer, food blogger and TV chef. She writes about food in every issue of amelia magazine, and she blogs for amelia online. ‘Lättlagat med Jessica’ is the title of her own YouTube channel, where she shares recipes and cooking tips in a playful manner, topped with a generous portion of enthusiasm. This spring Jessica launches her own fashion line of colourful dresses, in collaboration with Provrummet. Jessica has published six cookbooks, most recently “Supergott & supersnabbt” (Bonnier Fakta 2017).

    Summary: Leif Mannerström is the legendary chef, TV-star and cookbook author now getting a ”Special Awards” in the Gourmand Awards for his achievements. A result made public already december the 15th at Swedish Design (Svensk Form) in Stockholm. A special awards is definite and ready, which is not the case for other nominees, that will know who´s getting the ”Best in the World”-titles at the awards and gala nights in China the 26-27th of may.

    Summary: Marie Carlsson is an educational publisher, although not in the culinary field,  and a cookbook enthuisiast. Her credo is that cookbooks should be used and that there is great potential in phenomena such as the Swedish cookbook wonder and cookbook tourism.
