BarNordic 2018

Do business in BarNordic - with Sweden’s best bartenders

BarNordic is a popular meeting place at GastroNord. The industry gathers here to mingle, make contacts and do business in an enjoyable environment while at the same time being served by Sweden’s leading bartenders. This year’s edition will offer an innovative bar environment covering 350 m2 and designed by Malin Marceau from Stockholmsmässan.

The plans for 2018 BarNordic are in full swing, and Stockholmsmässan’s own designer, Malin Marceau, has been given the assignment to create the space.  When Malin receives an assignment, she starts by turning to her surroundings to find inspiration.

“I use Pinterest, and I am inspired by a lot in my everyday life, for example from all of the environments our exhibitions, trips or movies. It is fun and challenging to create a space that offers the visitor an authentic feel and has a focus that strengthens the entire event.”

BarNordic will have a 1920s, art deco theme, and it will undergo a transformation as day turns to night. During the day it will function as a lounge and have the feel of a hotel lobby with a bar for spontaneous meetings; in the evening it will be more like a night club.

“It will be a stylish bar - a place where you really want to be and that has some class. Where you can take your customers and feel that it is representative. In the evening, it will be a comfortable place where you want to hang out,” says Malin.

Malin was part of the team that brought home first place at the Swedish Exhibition Industry Design Awards – The Golden Square 2016. The winning stand was built for Tarkett for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair and was a large wooden box with the logo created from hand-crafted nails.

“It is always fun to receive recognition. It inspires me to try to create something even better,” says Malin.

“Creating BarNordic is my next fun challenge.”
